Holiness Khanania Mar Dinkha IV
It is 20 years since His Holiness Khanania Mar Dinkha IV became the Patriarch of
the Holy Apostolic Assyrian Church of the East.
Over the past years due to efforts by Catholics Patriarch Mar Dinkha IV the
ethno confessional concept of the Holy Apostolic Assyrian Church of the East was
outlined in the explicit form so that it was recognized as the Assyrian Church
of the East. Meanwhile, considerable efforts have been made to set the basic
principles of the ecumenical movement as well. The adoption of the Common Christ
logical Declaration signed by Pope John Paul II on the one hand, and by Mar
Dinkha IV on the other hand, in November 1994 was really a great achievement as
this document. Puts the end to various insinuations about the Nestorian nature
of the Holy Apostolic Assyrian Church of the East. Considerable work has been
done towards rapprochement of all brotherly churches of the East with a view to
implement the ideas of the "Patriarchal Synod". This far it seems to
be, the way to bring our brotherly nations to their ethnical unity eventually.
